Lauren ´Selie´ Liebowitz

Lauren 'Selie' Liebowitz

Lauren works as a copywriter, but secretly (or not so secretly) she's a fiction writer and something of an artist.

I'm a professional copywriter by day, but I write fiction and work on my art in my free time. I spent several years stuck in something of an artistic plateau, but I'm moving past it!

Most of my art these days is of characters I've written about or characters from a roleplaying game I'm running, but I still draw the occasional generic mermaid or fairy because I LOVE mermaids and fairies. I love telling stories, and many of my pictures (though not all) come with their own stories - some of those stories I'll try to share with you! I believe that art should be an expression of one's self, and it's a way to capture emotion and tell a story all at once. So I prefer emotional artwork, and my artwork tends to emphasize emotion, facial expressions, that sort of thing. I definitely have my weaknesses, but I'm working to overcome them.

Things I love: the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander; The Neverending Story (both the movie and the book); the Cat books by Joan Vinge; Beethoven, Simon and Garfunkel, Bon Jovi, Vivaldi, Faure, Loreena McKennit, and more music; Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Odysseus, and Orion.

Your coloring seriously amazes me O.O
*amaze amaze*
Very beautiful gallery... *tears up from all the beauty floating around*

:-) Lauren 'Selie' Liebowitz replies: "Thank you! The coloring is something I really enjoy, and it makes up the majority of my gallery just because Elfwood people don't seem to have much to say about lineart or pencil sketches unless they're truly exceptional, and my art isn't. Of course, I put a few non-color pictures just to be stubborn, but ...."

Twentysomething, Prydain, lit major...you sure you're not me? Oh, of course you're not, you've got all this fabulous color work up, while my gallery languishes in mostly B&W. 1

Hey...I've never done an art trade either, but I've got a few spare weeks before school starts up, and I'd love a shot at drawing one of your characters. If you still have the time and inclination, let me know. 1

:-) Lauren 'Selie' Liebowitz replies: "Color is addicting. C'mon, you know you want to do moooooore... but yes, you said the magic word (Prydain!) so of course I will do an art trade with you. ... just kidding; I'd love to do a trade regardless of your excellent taste in books, but it certainly does make you cooler. Here, email me and we can talk about this? ^_^"

Off topic of the art, that is such a cute picture, your portrait =D

I just wanted to stop by and thank you again for leaving such a well constructed criticism on my poem. I hope you weren't expecting a rude response because of my reply to the "other" commenter. I'm less than forgiving to people who lash out at others for no other reason than their (my) poetry stinks. But I digress...

You have a lovely gallery here. Which I will delve into more deeply post-hurricane.

:-) Lauren 'Selie' Liebowitz replies: "I tried to be polite to you, and I was pleased that you were polite back. I think people underestimate the importance of basic decency in everyday conversation. I'm glad you took my criticism so well - it was certainly not intended to offend in any way. Thank you for coming by here and saying kind things. ^_^"

I really love all your artwork! Everything I've looked at is amazing, and makes me happy. You've distracted me from my homework for at east half an hour:-p. You are extremely talented!

Oh, a wonderful little (well, maybe not so little) gallery that you have here! =D I love the colors you use, they are fantastic. Mmm. Inventive pieces, too. I shall bookmark your gallery (but unfortunately that doesn't tell me when you update. I don't suppose you have a DA account squirreled away? <)

:-) Lauren 'Selie' Liebowitz replies: "DA used to load really slowly so I never really got into it, and I have trouble updating one gallery so two might be impossible! Thanks so much for the compliments. I'm actually going to submit a ticket for an update soon, though I don't have a whole lot to add... you'd probably be best served coming back once every 6 months just in case I have added new things. I don't have as much time to draw these days as I'd like, unfortunately."
