I've been thinking of what to write here for ages, and only finally decided on it after replying to another artist here on elfwood. This bio is a slightly edited version of what I posted on the profile of artist Kali Lumani Blacke...
I’m a writer (hope to get the time to post some stuff on Elfwood in the somewhat-near future) and I’ve spent nearly 15 years creating my own fantasy world.
A very long time ago a friend asked me to run a paper-based RPG based in that world. It turned into a DnD game that lasted almost as long. It takes a lot of work, and sometimes it leaves me wondering why I’m doing it - I’ve never had a chance to publish or anything yet... And then, after many games, I’ve had players (many of which have come and gone, others who’ve been with me the entire time) who’ve thanked me for the game and told me how much it means to take part in my story and help contribute to a growing world.
It’s that feedback, that eagerness, that joy that I see people taking from what I do that has kept me going and destroyed any writer’s block I’ve encountered.
I’ve never been visual-arts talented and so it’s often a struggle to bring my own designs to life. The art of so many talented artists I've seen here reminds me that effort brings its reward and that one person’s creative energy can forge an everlasting dream in the imagination of others. It’s easier to remember we have that power on one another when an artist I don’t know, such as so many of you, has such a powerful influence on my own dream.
So thank you all for coming.

I’m actually amazed at the welcome and friendliness I’ve experienced since coming to Elfwood. I haven’t even uploaded anything yet and already people are being so kind, so forth-coming!
Sadly I have no talents for the visual arts. I mean to try and develop them but it’s discouraging because even my stick-men look disfigured at this point.
The good news is I feel confident in my writing abilities. I’m a very imaginative person, and I’ve used both my experiences in my own life combined with my studies in anthropology, psychology, and an unquenchable hunger for all things fantasy to create my own fantasy world of which I’m very proud.
I hope that I can soon start sharing both the stories I’ve been working on, as well as posting a few rough-drafts or story-concepts here so I can get some feedback and gauge interest.
When I do begin posting, I ask any critics to kindly practice some Radical Honesty. lol.
