My rendention of the character Moiraine from 'The Wheel of Time' series by Robert Jordan.

Aes Sedai are known for being cool, unflappable, and imposing. They command respect and fear. And Moiraine Damodred fits this mold more than most Aes Sedai.

House Damodred has long been prominent in Cairhien, controlling the throne for many generations. Moiraine herself was Laman Damodred’s niece. But she left behind the life of a Cairhienin noble to become Aes Sedai.

Moiraine was something of a prodigy in the White Tower. She arrived at the Tower with the potential to eventually become one of the strongest Aes Sedai alive. She also learned quickly, showing little fear and great skill in her lessons.

Along with her good friend Siuan Sanche, Moiraine chose the Blue Ajah when she was raised to the shawl. Members of the Blue Ajah most often spend their energies on good causes and fighting the Shadow, and Moiraine was no exception. In fact, the battle she fought was more important than any other. She set about finding the boy who would grow to become the Dragon Reborn. Through the course of this search she met and bonded her Warder, a fierce Borderlander named Lan Mandragoran.

After years of hunting she eventually found him, an eighteen year old boy named Rand al’Thor. She guided Rand through many initial dangers and decisions, though he often fought against what she thought best. Moiraine recognized the importance of this young man, and was willing to do anything to keep him alive. Despite their frequent arguments, Rand recognized both that Moiraine was an important and valuable asset to his cause and that she was only doing what she thought best.

But Moiraine might very well have been killed in a battle with the Forsaken Lanfear. In the midst of their confrontation, they fell through the ter’angreal doorway leading to the land of the Aelfinn and Eelfinn. Lan certainly believes her to be dead, but there is also evidence that she may not have perished in her fight with Lanfear.

Should Moiraine return, Rand would certainly welcome her back with open arms. Her vast knowledge and her skill with the One Power are sorely missed by those who fight against the Shadow.

She just looks to young and innocent and dreamy eyed. But hey who cares! It's such a wonderfully drawn (and beautiful) picture.

This is wonderful- her jewlery seems a little off center to the rest of her face- and her hair seems a little stiff where its falling over her shoulder- but i love her expression so much

Great picture! I agree with some others - she does look a bit too young. but she also looks like Moiraine> i can picture this being Moiraine at 15 or something. more like when she meets Lan, or even earlier. Great pic though!
