Good vs Evil is the cliche battle that has been raging on since the beginning of time. Most movies and books major theme is that the good guys will always triumph over evil. But even good guys have a darkness just as bad guys have a speck of light. This poem is about that demon that can lurk inside even the purest of hearts.

trapped in the tower
destitute
hiding in vain
from the never demon
clawing out of my soul
screaming to be free
irresponsibility
beckons

the pillar of strength
crumbles inside
the foundation crack'd
confidence waning
deserting, fleeing like
frenetic sparrows from me
insecurity
beckons

a place without
consequence or care
would be nice
its out there, oh yes
just once a taste
of krazy, please?
stupidity
beckons

i want to need to
lose the control
freak inside but
then who is hiding
lurking beneath the mask
that is supposed to be me?
instability
beckons

but scared of my psyche
of power and seduction
the lovely darkness
recedes
into resentful shadows
until next time
responsibility
always wins

Love the message... and though I may be in the minority, I love the format too-- just makes it sound kind of... umm... drugged. Like a psycho examining all options, and one more day going on being perfectly "normal", but you never know when that facade will break...

"In that delicate fold of indecision between homicide and suicide lies the common position we comfort ourselves by calling normalcy."

Awesome poetry. Loved it.

Scary how much that poem speaks to me. I've felt this way too many times, and you've captured it in words.

Neato on this one.

It is indeed a crazy world out there. Those who know their duty to do good may sometimes seek surcease, but once you've chosen a side, you can't really go back that easily.

Nice concept.

The format is so creative, its great out the last line is beckons.. and the very last one is wins. Its so true how we all have are negative side, this is a great message.

beautifull.... simple, but wuith strong images i can't quite put down on paper for some reason... 8sigh* i let my demons go free years ago. they ate my old self. i stopped struggling and fighting. I guess i lost my will.

Bold. Strong. Gorgeous.

The frantic, choppy pace really lends strongly to the feeling. I love the way you spelled krasy with a 'k' instead of a 'c'. You're incredible.

Amen and Amen!!! I think this aptly describes the life force inside of every writer. It sure describes my own battles within....

Wonderful, Shel, wonderful!!
