Every night, things become incredibly awkward at the dinner table when the Beast asks Beauty to marry him. Every night she refuses and takes her leave of him. She wishes that he would stop asking; he wishes that he could.

I did this in Laurentien coloured pencils, which was an experience. Colour is, like, a million times harder than black and white. I could've done this in a third of the time using pencils. Still, I'll never learn if I don't keep trying! I messed up a lot of stuff, but it's still better than I expected, so I'm proud. When I decided to colour this, I scanned in the pencil rough. It's up here if anyone wants to see it.

[November 14, 2004] I've changed the shape of the Beast's snout, as per Carina Jørgensen's advice. I like it much better this way, so thanks Carina!

ANyhow, it's gorgeous 2

:-) Elizabeth Sherry replies: "Yes, that's right. A few days ago, now, on November 15. Thanks for the compliment!"

I really like how you were able to shade and then have the light reflected off, as well. It really looks lovely on her head piece and her dress. The reflection of the vase on the table is very well done, as well.

Her eyes are too small, even if she is looking down....she looks like she is squinting, or chinese...and the beast's face looks too cartoonish., and her hat looks out of place with that dress ... but other than that, I really like it. Beauty and the beast is my favorite fairy tale...it is captured quite nicely here, despite a few flaws...

Yeah I agree with everything the person who posted above me said. I do however, love that dress.

Have you by any chance been reading Robin McKinley, LOL? I think Beauty's really well done here, but giving the Beast a cloak seems a little bit of a cop-out to avoid drawing him...not that I can talk. Really good work!

Wow beautiful... However, I disagree with mr/miss/master/ms/mrs November. I think he has no eye for good drawing. Belle’s eyes are OK, she doesn’t look like she’s squinting or chinese, the beast’s face is far from cartoonish, her hat is OK and doesn’t clash with the dress. So how about I just favourite this drawing right now and stop critisizing critics? 12
