SciFi and Fantasy Art the Selkie Wife by Elizabeth Sherry

Another fairytale/folktale, in which a fisherman steals a selkie's seal skin and gets her to marry him. While she makes a dutiful wife, she is never able to forget her seal husband and children, nor can she stop pining for the sea.

Entirely digital, for a change, and therefore rougher than I usually do, since I'm not very practised at painting. But the colours make it all worth it.

I think people underestimate the skill that is needed to be able to express emotion so perfectly without even showing her face. You are truly a very talented artist.

5 Jun 2006	Morgenstern	Loading... Seriously awesome. I love the moon phase in the upper-left corner; it really adds to the emotion of the piece. Have you done a story/had someone do a story for it ever? It would make GREAT illustration/inspiration.
