| A demon peers over the shoulder of a lone soul. |

Despair
by Dan Shevock
Over the shoulder it peers at the morsel,
‘Among men, there is none so alone.’
A Demon who feeds off despair
And it stands, teeth brown and wretched rank breath.
Over the computer he looks at the TV.
Among his things and in near dark.
A man in a large, old house, alone
And he sits and wonders, “Can despair bring death?”
Over the lone soul it licks it’s lip,
Among it’s meals this one stands alone
A Demon who feeds off despair
And Despair carries death on his breath.
