| 10 Feb 2004 | Liisa-Ravna Finbog | Couldnt agree more^^....you really have talent. Keep up the good work and please do upload more of your work.... Shicong Xie replies: "Thanks for thinking so. I will upload work when I actually *have* more work... I'm fairly new in the "fantasy" genre." | |
| 10 Feb 2004 | Frank van der Hoeven | Welcome to Elfwood! great colour paintings you have, go on with drawing and painting and stay please away from the photo-shop, you have the talent to draw on the naturally way! take that advice from me, my compliments. Shicong Xie replies: "Thank you! Elfwood is such a great place to be. I like to dabble with photoshop (occasionally,) I think it's quite a new way to do art; but I like traditional media better, being the horrible Classicist that I am. Thank you much, though! " | |
| 14 Feb 2004 | Damon Odum | Welcome to Elfwood, gallery neighbor. Figured it be rude of me not to visit you and I'm actually glad I did now. The Dance of Luthien is my fave out of them, but all of your pieces are lovely. You're very talented with paint, one thing that I'm now just trying to learn. I've tried coloring on the computer, but I really prefer traditional media like colored pencils and paints. Well, keep up the good work. Shicong Xie replies: "Greetings! (Is it politeness here to visit gallery neighbors?) Thank you, though, for all the encouragements you gave me; I prefer traditional media as well, being, to me, easier to manipulate." | |
| 31 Mar 2004 | Beata Edström | Just wanted to say hi to a fellow Tolkien fan and biology student! Your work is really nice, and what I noticed the most is that you are really good at drawing backgrounds! I need to learn that... "Lamentation for Miriel" is my favourite, it is absolutely beautiful and original too - I haven't seen anyone else depict that scene. I hope to see more of your art in the future! Shicong Xie replies: "Thanks for dropping by to my little gallery. I'm really glad you liked my art, and that I'm meeting another Tolkien fan/biology student. There are so many parallels between biology and Arda, there should be a list. All geekiness aside, thanks a for the lovely feedback to "Lamentation." " | |
| 6 May 2004 | Susan | hi, I just want to say how beautiful I think your pics are, my favorite is Sad and Hurt! Now I want to ask you a question, I am dreaming about a fantasy creature for weeks now, and now I want to meet here, sins that's not possible I wanted to ask you to draw her for me so I could look at here. And she is a female. I don't know if you will draw here but thanks already. I picked you out of all because i think you're the best!! THANKS! When you will picture her, would you send me an email when she’s finished? My email is susanboerma@hotmail.com I’m sure I’d love it, bur then you should name the number of the page where you will put her. Thank you very much! | |

| 1 Dec 2006 | Malvina (Poland) | Wow, it's magic! Your paintings are ones of the best illustrations for Tolkiens' story I have ever seen. "Dance of Luthien", "Luthien Tinuviel", "Upon Cerin Amroth" - what can I say...I'm jealous! | |
