A unusual, reclusive young girl who has become so closely bonded with cobras and other snakes that she has gained a tail and the ability to comunicate with her familiar serpents. As cold and desolate as she is haunting, the girl no longer trusts people and has become more beast than human. Ironically, the name Etsu means delight. The Japanese characters in the corner translate to 'White Dragon', which is my usual online screen name. Mechanical pencil, posted 12/20/06.

No offense but the tail seems to be a bit too large for her body (in thickness I mean), and is there a hole at the back of her skirt that high up to allow her tail to hang out? I would have probably made the skirt look as though it were draped over the tail. Other than that and the way the cobra head is aligned in proportion to its spine, I see nothing wrong with it.

P.S. This is just an overall inspection and a bunch of suggestions, so do what you want to do.

Oh, And I've noticed the number 69 on Etsu's upper part of her skirt and on the cobra's hood. Is there any symbolism there?

56 Shelby L. Buckner replies: "Well, first of all, thank you for the constructive criticism. I agree, the tail is too large and too think; I was hoping to emphasize the tail but instead blew it way out of proportion. In response to your question, no, I did not intend for the number 69 to appear in this picture. I was trying to draw a sort of pictographic symbol to stylize the markings on an actual cobra's hood, but without a referance figure, I just guessed at the best way to simplify those patterns into an icon, and that "69" was the result. However, I am glad that you could offer both a productive comment and an unique interpretaton of my artwork. More than anything, though, I'm just happy that some one would take the time to help me with my drawing. Thank you! "
