SciFi and Fantasy Art M a j i c k M u s h r o o m by Tim Shumate

This is a project i did for school that was due today. The teacher handed out random articals from the magazines and told us we had to do a page and 3/4 layout '11*14 inch' illustration for it. My artical was called THE TRULY MAGICAL MUSHROOM....it was about this guy who thinks we can cure AIDS and cancer with fungi, but then he started talking about how we should harvest mushrooms on other planets....so i made him look like a mad scientist. ...yeah. Anyway, This was scanned last night at home, today i took it in and airbrushed some highlights onto the mushroom at school, it dosent look to much diffrent, i might upload the finished version when i get it back.

25 Jan 2004	Lady Maryn	Loading... I love that mushroom. I've been waiting for a mod's choice with a mushroom in it...I'm obsessed with them, for some reason. I love the way the mushroom is glowing, and the way you drew the mad scientists face. Very creative.

The angualr nose adds such character and the white around the mushroom creates a perfect light. the dark and busy background. it brings to mind such activity and the anticipation ordinarily associated with a mad scientist coming a to a breakthrough. Eureka!
