Compared to the size of her head, her body should be longer. Are her legs bent at the knees and tucked up under her dress? If so, you might want to think about putting more shading under the bend area to give the illusion that her legs are under her. Also, I would put more shading detail into the dress. Other then that you did a wonderful job on the watercolor itself. I love the background and your choice of colors!! Keep up the beautiful work!!! Hugs - Valarie Malin ´Silver Wind´ Nilsson replies: "*hangs head in shame*Ah yes, I cheated a little there. I couldn't under any circumstances get her feet to look right. So I kind of "hit" them poorly under the dress. I know it's a major no no, but let's face it. I'm lazy. The flat shading on the other hand was an intentional attempt to imitate Mucha's style. Thanks for the comment!" | |
| 27 Jun 2005 | Yvonne Marie Honeyball | Loading...this is really nice. wonerful watercolouring again, tell me about the salt? i've never heard of that! i haven't used watercolours in nearly a year now, and my style has completely gone down the drain. just to add to Valarie's CC her arm seems very short and thin for the rest of her body. I do love the art nouveau style, and i think you've dn quite well in your attempt here. ~*Y*~ Malin ´Silver Wind´ Nilsson replies: "Thank you for your coment, and the CC is much appreciated!About the salt; it has a very interesting effect on wet watercolours. If you sprinkle it on and let the colour dry the salt (depending on what kind you use) will have sucked up some of the pigments and created white/lighter areas." | |
| 29 Jun 2005 | Kidnero | Loading...I know what you think about the most unnecessary body parts of all aka feet. Still, make a try! Apart from that, very lovely colors. Jag bara älskar den, vattenfärger är din grej helt enkelt! Malin ´Silver Wind´ Nilsson replies: "I did try, trust me! *bows* Merci!" | |
| 22 Aug 2005 | A. 'Ari' Jenkins | Loading...Hi! CC: Her hair is a little odd, it looks like she's bald in the back but maybe it's just short. I love the backround/window thing. It is a nice tuch. Malin ´Silver Wind´ Nilsson replies: "Yes, you're right! She does look a little bald at the back of her head now that you mention it. Ah well...I can live with that. Thank you for your comment!" | |
| 22 Sep 2005 | Jessica Conaire | Loading...I like the way her hair flows and I also like the background. The only things I find bit odd with this picture is her arms and legs: they seem a bit short. Maybe her dress could be a bit longer. Her face is well done though, and I like her happy expression. I like the Art Nouveau style as well. ^_^ Malin ´Silver Wind´ Nilsson replies: "Thanks!Yes,I see that now. That I made her arms andlegs too short..." | |
| 11 Feb 2006 | Ramona C Bogott | Loading...I love the salt effect! *runs to throw some salt on her watercolours* As well as the art nouveau style. My problem is I always start too big and never leave room for a border. Really like the feel of this piece!. keep up the good work. | |
