'Twelve gods stood, a circle of life in the vast Nothing. The boughs of the Life Tree sheltered their fragility as they discussed what would happen next.
Fawerui, the Waterer, gave life to another spot of the Nothing.
Sehegdui, the Planter, took a seed from the Life Tree and planted it where Fawerui had made fertility.
And Brahaui, the Nurturer, stayed with the seed, coaxing it to life with the secrets of the nothing whispered to it for long eons.
And the twelve gods watched as the new tree grew, and a world formed under its roots.
And Gityu said it was good...and so it was that the world of Astar came to be...'

Er...yes. Product of boredom. The World Tree forms all that is in Astar, and the roots are said to hold nearly as much power as the enchanters ever held.
From Ever-Night, a WIP story by yours truly. And, for clarity, it doesn't have leaves. It has crystals. Pencil.

Wow, I really like the technological looking trunk, and the crystal leaves, as if those twelve gods had technological power, rather than magical/godly power. It makes one wonder, where did they come from, and how did they gain such vast knowledge? Or I could be spouting gibberish totally contrary to your own story, in which case, I apologize.
Awesome, awesome.

1 Simi 'Astaria' Landau replies: "Are you kidding me? I lurves teh contrary gib'rish.
The designs on the trunk are actually a map of the Nothing (please, please ask me how that works) and the funky leaves are crystal because leaves don't grow in space. Haha, I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about!"

Hmm. Kind of reminds me of the world tree from Norse myth.

6 Simi 'Astaria' Landau replies: "That was one of the inspirations, yes."

Guess I'm not the only one to spot the Norse influence. I think the Norse one had something eating it's roots as well. Anyway without colour it is dificult to difinitavely say that those leaves are crystal and not just stylalised.

2 Simi 'Astaria' Landau replies: "Yeah, they do just look awfully stylized. I'm not all that good at colors (or much at all, really) but eventually I do hope to color it.
Norse mythology is some of my favorite, but yeah, Yggdrasil was being eaten away, by Nidhogg I believe?"
