SciFi and Fantasy Art Lestat and the Ladies by J. Oliver

This is an illustration of a scene that took place in the book _The Queen of the Damned_ by Anne Rice. Akasha has sent a veritable horde of women to pamper and please Lestat as he is very depressed over recent goings-on. In this picture, the ladies have stripped him and are leading him towards the steaming bath.

From the book:

'Another pair of women came towards me. They wanted to lead me into the bath. I did nothing. I felt them touch me - hot human fingers touching me and all the attendant shock and excitement in them as they felt the peculiar texture of my flesh. It sent a powerful and delicious chill through me, these touches. Their dark liquid eyes were beautiful as they looked at me. They tugged at me with their warm hands; they wanted me to come with them. *** They stripped my garments off me. Absolutely fascinating feeling. No one had ever done such a thing to me. Not since I'd been alive and then only when I was a very small child. I stood in the flood of steam from the bath, watching all these small dark hands, and feeling the hairs rise all over my body; feeling the adoration in the women's eyes.'

As you said before, a very good 'cleverly placed leg' Your ability to make folds in fabric amazes me... i'm an amateur! I like his expression. I have just finished the book a coupe,of weeks ago, as you know, and I remember this part! When I first saw this, I forgot this part had happened! But, very good nonetheless. J. Oliver replies: " Hee hee! Although I have a very dirty mind, for some reason I just don't like to draw privates! Strange. Anyhow, you'll get better at depicting fabric the same way you get better at anything: Practise! Yes, this picture is from one of the smaller scenes, but I thought it was lots of fun, so I wanted to try my hand at drawing it. Thanks for commenting!"
10 May 2005	E. Torrens	Loading... I like the patterns on the dresses of the women and the lines on Lestat's hair. Leaving the lines so simple and putting the women in dark clothes really makes Lestat stand out. J. Oliver replies: "I'm glad you think so, because that was my aim in doing it that way. Without the patterns on the ladies' garments, they all sort of blended together. Thanks for your comment!"

As for anatomy, it's all due to training and lots of life drawing classes. I very rarely draw from a reference, so it's usually straight from my head. This one has a few mistakes, but no one has noticed them really. Thanks!!! By the way, you have won my kiriban with all of your lovely comments! You are commentor #300!!! AAHH,yes "pamper the mad man"...what?!!!!bares fangs and scares girls, and gives lestat a spunge bath herself...should i wash your back now for you, MY dark angle of death?...Ahhm..nice...um, pic. J. Oliver replies: "Nice... um, comment! Lestat's such a dirty boy!"
10 Oct 2005	Karolina Sirielle Węgrzyn	Loading... Damn, I really need to read it! Good choice of the scene. The man is beautiful! His face has that surprised and thoughtful expression, really illustrating the text. (Hmmm, but you should wait with the taking a shot till his leg will be lower Joking, it's not necessary, not important, it might take away viewer's attention from his face.) Wish to see one of Tolkien elves portrait drawn by you one day J. Oliver replies: "Haha yes I get that comment about the placement of his leg a lot!! I'm just not comfortable drawing his privates yet!! And yes, I thought it would take away from the rest of the picture to have a focus on his crotch (because you know that's what everyone would zoom in on!). Maybe one day... Lestat is supposed to be a stunning beauty of a man, so I'm glad you think I've done well in that aspect! He does have a lot on his mind at this point in the book, and he is shocked at the changes that have happened to him recently. I'm so glad it comes through!!! Maybe one of these days I'll draw a Tolkien elf! Thank you so much for the comments!!"
