Okay, confession time. I am addicted to computer games. No lie. I can sit down with my computer in the late evening, thinking I'll spend an hour at the most with it, and then resurface 10 hours later and go: "Where did the sun come from?"
Now, I've been clean for two whole years now. Haven't played one single time. But inside my head, I'm still playing. I conquer castles and kill monster, I collect jewels and gold and become the general of mighty armies. And the funny thing about games is this: when you kill something, *poof* suddenly there's a shiny ruby or something that you're supposed to grab. And since I'm playing this game inside my head, I start thinking: How would I react In Real Life if I had to kill someone and those jewels popped up. To tell you the truth, I think it would have troubled me, every precious stone would be another memorial for a life I had taken. So, yeah... I take this way too seriously.
Anyway, here's my gamer heroine's reaction to her ruby. I owe a lot of thanks to http://neondragonart.com/dp/ for the great tutorials there. In the end I used the colour build up technique, which was completely new to me and very fun to try. I'm not completely satisfied with the blood splatter on her dress, since I just had to guess at how to paint those in PS. Constructive criticism, good or bad, is very welcome.
How about leaving a comment and bringing some joy to a poor girl in the middle of her finals?
