Anna Skult

Oh my goodness, I've been on Elfwood for almost 9 years. Since these years have been the most turbulent concerning my art, seeing the development has been quite interesting - I still don't know everything, but I know more than in the year 2000 ;)

Short bio: I was born in -88, live in Finland, study Art History, and I have a hyper-active german shepherd dog, whom I love very much (love him a little less when he's eating cameras and MP3-players, though). Also, I spent my years in pre-school lying, stealing and making noise. Then morals came into the picture and ruined all the fun.

My style is a bit comic-like. Without outlines, I feel my picture looks unfinished. That's something I'm trying to get away from, and I'm striving towards a more realistic look, as well as trying to develop my watercolour-skills. I have problems with choosing the correct colours (I have tendency to use the same colours over and over again), and objects in perspective is also a tough one. Any advice and constructive criticism is whole-heartedly appreciated! ^_^ I always try to repay the compliments as soon as I remember!

Updates:

~29.1.06~ Alright, major gallery spiffyness-update, with a new bio, new picture of me, updates to a bunch of picture-descriptions (also, I added an "oldie" to the names of those pictures that are.. well, older =), and 3 new images! The new pictures are "Alauda Arvensis", "Amber" and "Butterflykitty". Enjoy!

~29.6.06~ Removed an oldish picture ("At dawn she rides"), as it didn't seem to inspire any comments :-( ....  =P There's prolly a whooole bunch of pictures that are old and out-dated, but I just haven't got the heart to remove them - thus removing the comments. Though it might be easier to view this gallery without a lot of excess pieces, I guess. Also, a smallish update with new pictures might be taking place soon! ^_^

~10.9.06~ Big update. Or downdate, or something. I removed a total of 35 pictures, as they were outdated and old. It was hard to do, as I appreciated the comments written about them very much! But on a more positive note, I added three new pictures: "Flower of the Fairy - Emilia's picture", "Forestshadow" and "The wasteland wanderers - Pencil" ...! This is a fresh start for my gallery, I suppose *smiles*

~28.11.06~ One new picture: "Silent Carnival". Enjoy! ...Next task: Make an image with beings that interact with each other, instead of just posing alone. Gonna be a tough one =P

~10.3.07~ Updated with only one new picture again: "Beauty of the moment"! Also, new bio-pic with one of the brothers in the background ^-^ As I'm trying out for some art schools, all my creative stuff is sadly only for them. If I have the time with end exams and all --_-- Hopefully I'll get to do some happy art for me only again soon!

~3.2.09~ Finally updated a little. I added the painting "Mossmonster", and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was a mod's choice 0_0 I still don't quite believe it, as a matter of fact :D

Thank you immensely! I think, however, the thing that my pictures lack is a sense of any kind of narrative. A background. Something which you seem to have such an astute grasp of yourself! And the really dramatic lighting you use in you pictures is great! Especially in ’Amber’, which is stark, alsmost as if lit by halogen spotlights or something, and in ’Alauda Arvensis’, which is more subtle, with warmer colours, yet still quite intense! *Plus*, I see you are a fan of dear old Mr. Blake...
