The Token Witch is a special witch, even more so than the Midnights. He (or she, depending on who he's reborn as) is a witch with no coven what so ever. Despite this, he knows disciplines from all three covens and has the added advantage of being able to use the infamous Dead Plane to hop through time and space. However, this witch is constantly being chased by the other three covens, in times when the Covens are at war, the ones that have the Token witch will have an advantage over the others, he can do anything, and Sift souls as well as act as a massive Vessel to contain thousands of them. In witch warcraft, souls are ammunition, and those who have more, have the advantage. Of course, when the covens aren't at war...the Token's spectral trail vanishes and he can breathe freely again . There can only be ONE Token, and this Token has been around forever, whenever his old body dies, he's reborn again into another, that's immortality for you.

Unfortunately for Nereon, in one of his past lives he was born female as Megwyn. Megwyn came from a time when man worshipped Fire and sacrifice maidens to it. Now Megwyn's father didn't want his daughter sacrifice to the Fire so confined and raped her, basically making her impure and an unworthy sacrifice. Unfortunately this ordeal resulted in a child, a child that was horribly deformed. Being the Token Witch, Megwyn knew there could only be one, so cast the abomination into the Fire her people worshipped. In doing so, it gave the Fire a whole new life of its own, and it became the Great Wyrm of Hatred and Destruction, Haebardug to the Dead Hills Natives and Northmen, known to some by the name Dormin (which Nereon calls him because it was his ORIGINAL name), or Arakos by the Dragons. Created through violence and sustaining itself on hatred and death, Shlorin is an unstoppable force that not even Nereon can control. The only way to stop him, is to stop the source of his sustenance (eg. stop the Senif Crusade) Only then will he sleep again, hidden as a huge mountain range.
On it's birth from the Flames, it hunted down and destroyed all the Phoenixes of the world, because it was they who had taught Mankind how to harness Fire's power. He devoured and killed many of them, and those that remained, it is said, have vanished to Karos at the Edge of the Abyss.

The great Wyrm now lies dormant and only wakes when there is a great intensity of hatred (eg. Senif crusades, the invasion of the Northmen to the Dead Hills) He's often taken as a God, as with the Northmen, he was a symbol of their power and they worshipped him. The Lerki who also came about the same time, took him as a Great King figure. The Senif...well they just thought he was the embodiment of their destructive powers, and a sign from the Gods that they were doing the right thing.

As for Nereon, indeed he remembers his past lives, he also remembers Haebardug, and usually will try to put him back to sleep whenever he wakes, it is...perhaps, the only thing in his life that he regrets, that Shlorin should ever have been born and that he was stupid enough as Megwyn to throw him in the Fire and give him a second life.

Other than that, Nereon doesn't care about anything else! Apart from having an unhealthy fear of spherical objects...but that was in ANOTHER past life *shudder*
He has many aspects of each coven that mark him out from the others. For example, he has a Karif, that is, the red cloth about his waist that only Vessel Witches have.
He is Marked, by the burns on his arms and hand, a sign that he is a Marked Witch.
He carries a scythe with which to direct the flow of spoken spells...meaning he is a Caster Witch also. All these three things mark him as the Token...and the fact that he can travel through time and space using the Dead Plane, all these things help him escape when his Spectral Trail is visible in times of War between the Covens. To be the Token you must be cunning and swift, or else you'll get caught, and when you get caught...well it's not a nice experience, not even for it to happen to someone as scummy as Nereon.
