... a dragon can unsettle foes with its mere presence...

This style is called stippling, and it is composed of a great many dots put together to form the finished result. (Yes, it takes forever - this one was somewhere about 15-20 hours to complete)

Black felt tip pen on paper. The scan doesn't really do it justice, I don't think.

To have the patience is a feet within itself, not to mention the enormous show of talent. I love all your work but I don’t have time to comment on all of it, so I picked my favorite. I understand the scanner dislike, it happens to every single one of my pictures, but I can still see the utter brilliance in your work don't worry. Thanks for sharing.

:-) Stephanie Shimerdla replies: "And thank -you- for visiting and your comments! I'm glad that you enjoyed this one, and recognized the patience that it took! I've always loved stippling, though - perhaps I'll do a few more one day when my wrist stops hurting from this one! 12"

BOOYAH!!

I took the tour, scrolled down to the picture, waited for it to load and POOF! I fell out of my chair.

This is awesome. This really looks as if it is coming of the page and right into my face.

I congratulate you on a hard job well done!

Keep up the good work!

:6arbie wishes she were me::

I tried stippling once, i did a cat, it looks like a blob. I have no idea how you did that so wonderfully but it looks real. I take my hat off to you.

:-) Stephanie Shimerdla replies: "A whole heck of a lot of patience. 2 Oh yes, and a sore hand. With stippling, I have to do it in chunks with large breaks between. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it!"

You stippled the WHOLE picture!? Ouch i bet you were ready to throw it out of the window by the end...well if it didn't look so incredible that is. I've tried stippling before, but i only had the patience to do it on a bit of the picture. It does look great when you get it right, and you certainly did!

:-) Stephanie Shimerdla replies: "I just had to do it in chunks of time, so I didn't get too sick of it. Truthfully, I have a lot of patience for this sort of thing. But, I can only do them so often. 12 So glad you liked it, thanks!"

It must be a lot of fun doing to texture for the dragon... ^-^ ... hmm... is the lower jaw of the dragon suppose to be bigger then the upper jaw.... ?!

:-) Stephanie Shimerdla replies: "Hmm. I think it may just be the angle that his mouth is open to? Perhaps I didn't make that as obvious as I could have, or maybe the proportions WERE wrong. Anyway, thanks for pointing it out. 2"

WOW. Great Dragon. You really are a talented artist.

If the dragon took you 15-20 hours, then I can see why you didn't do the background... 2

:-) Stephanie Shimerdla replies: "Yeah, the dragon was enough for me. 2 I don't think I've ever stippled a background. It really takes away from them, perhaps, but I just don't think I could take it. Not yet, anyway. I'm still trying to teach myself to put any effort at all into backgrounds, and I'm finally succeeding... so maybe one day I'll manage it with stippling, too 2"

FUFFY!!!.....well...ok...so i am obsessed with "fuffy" but still.....that is amazing.........my brother would kill sumone to get that....well....maybe not THAT far but still.....

:-) Stephanie Shimerdla replies: "Whew, well, good to hear that your brother won't be stalking me to kill me for my artwork. 2 Just kidding! Thanks so much for stopping by, and for the comment!"
