August 2004 - Oil paint - 30cm x 30cm

This is the first songgryphon picture I did with such vibrant colours. I like it very much. And I began another colourful one right away. This time the songgryphons shall be even more exotic. The progress is visible on my homepage, if you're curious. ^.^
Btw. Can anyone see the bird species that inspired these 'collar songgryphons'? ;-)

This motive is available at Ellen Million Graphics.

Nice to see more of your lovely Songryghons. I wish I had one.

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Right! 2 Hmm. Was too easy, eh? ;-) Thank you Dagmar! I'm flattered by an artist like you!"

You know what these remind me of? Ursula Vernon's flying frog series - it's the real bird colours, I think. And of course you're both brilliant artists.

22 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Oi! A comparison with one of my great idols in Elfwood! I'm flattered. 2 I like her frogs very much, too. "

Nice to see your updates, Esther!

So pretty, these delicate little creatures of yours. ^^
Not that I am qualified to say so, but it seems to me that your skills have improved significantly since I last visited your gallery. I was in awe when I saw how realistic this one is.

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Hi Heather! Thank you very much! I was occupied with my diploma thesis for the last months. But now I'm back: ;-) Well, actually I'm done with the thesis and have caught a cold right away... so... much time to answer all the comments that have remained unanswered all the time. I'm glad you've been visiting my gallery once again. 2 There's something I want to ask you for; I'll get to you in a PM soon. "

What medium did you use to acheive this look? 'Tis great!!
Is that just black paper or did you do this on the computer?
It's cute all the same, and I can see where you took the idea from. I love that kind of bird. It's very pretty.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "It's oil paint on structured oil painting paper. Thank you! I like those birds, too!"

Wait - it's not a nut... I'm sorry!!! But it looks kind of hazelnut-like;-)

12 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "*lol* Well, I guess I've got to practice painting fruits, eh? ;-)"

I like the bright colours on the black background! And the colouring of that nut is amazing...2!!!
