December 2003 - Oil paint - 42cm x 39cm

Hossa! A new songgryphon species! And in contrast to the tiger songgryphons and lion songgryphons these are based upon a real songbird species again: Regulus ignicapillus, das Sommergoldhähnchen, the fire crested wren in english if I'm not mistaken.

This motive is available at Ellen Million Graphics.

So pretty^^ I do believe this silver color makes them my favorite species of songgryphon so far.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "I couldn't decide between those and the tiger songgryphons. But that's probably because our new cat is a red tigered one. ;-)"

That is just SOO cute! How do you come up with these things?

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Well, just one idea and the rest follows. ,-) Thank you for commenting!"

They really look like their "real" bird references! Such beautiful cute creatures! A wonderful idea!

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Aryana! I had been eager for a while to have my "own" fantasy creature and I am really happy that I came up with something that cute and variable as my songgryphons. it's fun to look through bird books to find a fitting songbird species for the next songgryphon picture. ^.^"

The smooth surface of the pumpkins and the fluffy fur/feathers of the Songgryphons give the whole thing a lovely contrast and make it look very realistic. Great work! I wished I had the patience to do such pieces as you do.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Hohoho! I wish I had the courage to write stories in English! ;-)"

i would love to see weasels and otters done by you! (Otters are my fav. ^=^) *giggles oddly despite the fact it is not dignified*
Toodles

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you very much! Hmm, maybe I should try and model a dragon on a weasel or otter. They are pretty and elegant furry creatures. Adorable but dangerous for their prey. An interesting combination - like in cats... "

I WANT ONE I WANT ONE!!!!I want a cute little songgryphon.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "*lol* One of every species, I guess? Or better: Two of every species, so you've got a chance they'll breed! "

...Is that where the strange claw marks on my pumpkins come from? I wonder if they'd come to feeders.

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "I would guess so, well if they're hungry enough anyway. ;-)"

Oh my cuteness!!! They are sooo adorable!!! Wow! I wanna hold one!! I held one of those birds they're based on once! (I think) Very small and cute it was! *pats mini gryphon*

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "*lol* Mee, too, I would like to have some of those in my flat. I am not sure though, if I would have them rather than a cat, and I guess both would not go that well together ..."
