SciFi and Fantasy Art Encounter I by Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel)

Before 1998 - Pencil drawing - 44cm x 31cm

This is the first of a small series of 'encounters' between a human and a dragon. Initially it was inspired by the fantasy story I'm writing, but it is not really an illustration. I just like to draw dragons, and to experiment with different forms of them. (This form I don't like so much anymore...) And I find especially the combination of one small human with one big dragon fascinating.

Though I doubt he's eat that man so easily. Else it would be strange how confident the guy seems. I see somewhat like a negotiation in the picture."

But i think that's just me. after reading stories about dragons and what they do... I makes sense for them to be that large. Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Depends on what kind of dragons you think of, I guess. I like those gigantous ones very much. But I also like tiny pet-like dragons. ;-) Do you know the leaf dragons from Michael E. Waters? They are a cool idea as well."

Wetzel) replies: "The claws are very sketchy, that's right. Though I don't feel they should be bigger, just more carefully drawn."
23 Mar 2007	Marika Viklund	Loading... Oooh! I really like the head of this dragon! Very spiky and cat like! Very nice! The nose is good too, I liked how it looks, the way the nostrils are. Yep, I know, I'm wierd! Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you, Marika. Actually, when I come to think of it, I always imagine dragons with many cat-like attributes. Strange. After all, they should be reptiles and not mammals ... Maybe it is just because I am such a fan of both. ;-)"
