August 2004 - Felt-tipped pen - 21cm x 30cm

As the title says. ;-) I like the fact that it is not just the same picture as lineart but it turned out to be some kind of closeup on the unicorn.

I drew this for the dark fantasy coloring book Ellen Million is composing at the moment. I hope she will take this in. I'll draw a lineart version of my shot angel as well for that purpose. :)

Alas, poor unicorn!

Now, I'd like to see the truck that hit it! I'm sure it's a mess!

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Hehehe, I had not thought about that yet! *evil grin at the thought of the pile of scrap metal that crept on out of this forest ...*"

Wow. Again sad motive... but I really love it. Not just that the idea is great and unique, you did the best job on it. I always loved colouring books, and I feel myself hardly not to take a colour pencil and colour it! Hehe.... I wish I could do landscaps as perfect! Every leave is a single thing to be drawn in, and just look at the street, how it is winding along the hills! That would be such a great place to drive along... I just would hope that a unicorn wouldn't suddenly cross the street right behing the next bend!

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Yeah. The colouring book's about dark fantasy. And since I don't like goth so very much I rather tend to the sad theme corner... Thank you again! And you're right: all those leaves drove me crazy!"

I like the motive. It is not the one sweet and nice picture you would like to find in a colouring book, but it is interesting and new, and everyone could paint it, als he or she wishes, to make it still alive or let him die. The motive is a little bit cynical, but I like that better than the 1001st sweet oh sweet picture.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you again, Christel! Yes, it might be cynical but I like to do that kind of art now and then. Or better said: When I'm in the mood of drawing such things I don't restrain myself from it by saying 'pictures should be nice'. About that drawing book: It will be a dark fantasy drawing book, and as I understood Ellen, it will be full of pictures like this one. ^.^"

Wow... Your art is really amazing... So many details... (schade dass mein englisch so mies ist, aber wirklich klasse.. Alles sieht so sauber und genau aus... Ich verzweifel immer an so kleinigkeiten... )

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thanks a lot, e.! 2 Indeed, I needed a bit patience to draw all those bushes and leaves. But since it's only a black and white piece at least the technique wasn't that time consuming. 2"

Amazing! Poor unicorn, this is really sad! I like the fantastic detail!

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you again! 2 Oh yes, the detail took a while. Not as long as the original, though. ^.^"

The perspective is great done! Some have problems with perspective, esp. when looking down onto something. You did this very well, although I am a little bit shocked about the motive and the, well, dark title for it *lol* But a different kind of idea, that's always good 2

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Kerstn! I like doing this dark art. At the moment I did more cute and nice songgryphon pictures but usually my motives are a bit more thoughtful up to very cynial like this one here."

Wow, cool! Nice job in turning that painting into lines. You know I always liked this pic, and I think this is really cool! I hope it gets into the coloring book too, good luck!

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you, again! 2 Cross fingers for it! 12"

Interesting picture... it's good
I should read that book again... Who's it by?

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Peter S. Beagle. This is one of the few books that have been made onto a worthy film. I love that animated movie since I have seen it the first time as a child!"

Oh no
hope the unicorn can get better with faerie magic
and all the trees grow back through the horrid highway
well drawn picture
lovely trees

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you very much! In fact, I love roads in forests and woud not like to see them all vanish. However, all the vehicles using them could be banned, if you ask me. What do you think: All the roads just for pedestrians, bicycles and the animals of the woods!"
25 Jun 2008:-) Sarah Fragore Roper
i hate vihicles now. i love unicorns and i can’t believe something like this could happen to a creature so beautiful.
