This was a request. The person wanted a water dragon. I was told it should be an oriental style dragon and I know they don't normally have wings but I was asked to give it big wings and make it fly. Its been so much fun to draw and for the first time my book on Dragonology has actually been of some use because I had to research oriental dragons.
Since everyone always asks I tried to keep note of how long this took but failed. I'm pretty sure that drawing it in pencil and then ink took around 10 hours but the colouring seemed to take more like 6 hours but its hard to tell since the TV is rather a big distraction.

would that book be by someone known as dr ernest drake? if so, then i'm glad to introduce myself as Jade.Y.Tate, esteemed Dragonologist, Dracologist, Wizardologist, Egyptologist, Vampirologist, Piratologist and Fairyologist. At your utter admiration. Seriously, i love this. I believe the pose was taken from the snapshot of the dragon being set free, in numerous of the books by Dr Ernest Drake, especially the one from the raising dragons book. Although there are two pictures - one with the dragon, another with the dragon and riders (man, woman {children?}) Anyway, i think you captured it just PERFECTLY
i'd love to see more, as an admirer of your art and as a fellow Dragonologist.

Yours in Dragonology, miss Jade.Y.Tate
