I'm practising on faces at the moment. The background was too empty so I made a sort of aura. I hope you like it.

The expression and shading are very nice. The lines are strong, and defined. The bottom part of her ear should be a little more even with the bottom part of her nose, but the ear itself looks very nice. Great work!

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thank you! I will sure use your tips in my next drawings of faces!"

The ear does seem a little too high. Her face looks a little flat too. Shading in black really sucks the life out of a picture. I love the radiating effect the aura though. Her hair is lovely too.

She does have a very determined and confident expression. Her broad shoulders make her look a bit masculine, but I don't really think that matters. Her ear is well-proportioned if slightly too far up. (Sometimes you see pictures of elves with ears so big you wonder how they can keep their heads upright!) Overall, I like it!

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thank you so much for you sweet and helpfull comment. I will sure read your stories soon. And thanks for visiting me again! blessed be, Saskia"

I really like her hair for some reason. A lot of times it is difficult to draw wavy or curly hair and not make it look all slick and smooth and shiny... because curly hair really isn't like that. The face is coming out great, and I also like the way her shoulders are drawn.

I like the idea of this piece, but not so much the composition. Her face is also at a really odd angle--almost like the angle shifts below her nose. I'd advise you to do a few more studies like this, with the face at a slight angle. Just remember to draw it AS YOU SEE IT. (=

Good luck, and keep it up!

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "thanks again for commenting. I always like to get cc. it really helps a lot. Blessed Be, Saskia"

I hate that too when you sit in those photo booths and the little chair is way too low.... erm what?
She's a little low on the paper with a lot of space above.

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "jeah you're right about that"

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Jeah, otherwise there would be a lot of empty space"

she’s pretty, and i love the way you did the hair!!! with the aura, she really looks as though she is shining, from the inside!

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thanks, it’s an old pic and I’m glad you like it."
