Another try out with watercolour. I know It's very messy. But I keep on practising.

*licks* Is that salt in the background? I really like the starburst effect that salt has on dilute watercolor.

Anyway, the composition of this piece is nice-it's ALWAYS a good idea to keep more bluish tones in the back and more yellowish tones in the front. Ie, for an orange, green, yellow, or red pic, use a purple or blue background. It's a lot easier on the eye and "reads" better as positive space.

You should try working on a larger scale with watercolor, using broad, flat strokes instead of trying to do tiny details. Detail in watercolor can drive you nuts!

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thank you som much for your sweet comment and your tips. I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply. And no ít's not salt but I do use salt in other pieces. Blessed Be, Saskia"

I don´t know, To me this looks pretty good, for watercolour painting... Watercolours are EVIL. o__O; The backround´s pretty, and the dragon looks like he´s being very curious about something. Cute. =^^=

I can't use watercolour- ends up all splodgy. It looks effective here- kinda smokey. Practise makes perfect eh?

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thank you for your comment. I think this one looks very splodgy"

LOL water-colours are EVIL! Especially if it's one of your first attempts. They like to run into each other and lift what you did earlier.... *Shakes fist* But you know the sky is bright and has got an interesting quality to it.

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thank you for your comment. Again! I'm still having a lot of trouble with watercolour but it is getting better"

You got some nice watercolor effects... and lovely color choices... definitely keep practicing!

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "I find watercolour very hard to work with but a new piece is coming up. I keep on practising. Thanks again for commenting."

I haven’t used water colours since I was little. They were standard at school, but now I’m mainly using acrylic when I want to make something coloured. Oh, and your dragon is nice 2

:-) Saskia H. Suurling replies: "Thanks! I find watercolour very hard to work with, I prefer acrylics but when I see what other people can do with watercolour I want to do that too."
