Work a bit more on the texture of the plume of her hat and on her hair. The eyes and lips are very well done, and you can see that high-born expresion in her features. Leif Eriksson replies: "I suck at hair but I'm trying to work some more on it in my new pics. Yeah, now the helmet looks a bit "cartoonish" =)"

Okay, that sounded a bit too much like Star Wars, but what the hell ;p Nice work, lad. Leif Eriksson replies: "Thx. Pencils are great, erasers are greater... "

Can't wait to see more. Blessed Be. Leif Eriksson replies: "Thanks! I'm horrible at spelling, especially at english so I wouldn't be able to tell, if it's correct or not... "
| 1 Feb 2005 | Melissa Findley | Loading...You know, your line work is really good, and your shading is getting to be pretty decent. A little more work with perspective and proportions, and some more detailed shading, and you'll be awesome. This one is lovely, but there are a few things that are throwing it off: first, the crest on the helmet is not in the center of the helmet. It's too far to our right, and we shouldn't be able to see so much of the top of it, especially toward the back. Second, beef up the helmet a bit more, if it wasn't made for a girl, it should be more masculine, and heavier. Indicate that the side pieces are thicker than a piece of paper, and maybe curve the bottom of the side guard down instead of up to even out the perspective (it should be the same curve as the line around her head). Third, we should be able to see more of the opposite side of her nose with her head at that angle: you've drawn her nose as if it's in profile, but if you look in a mirror you'll see that you can actually see the curve of the opposite nostril a bit at that angle. Also, you've flattened out her left cheekbone a little too much. And lastly, more detail! Draw some designs on the helmet, make some of her hair shiny, give her more shadows on her face to flesh it out a bit. This is a wonderful beginning, and with a little work it could be quite stunning. The pose and the feel of it are beautiful. It just needs you to spend some more time on it. Drawings are like pets: the more you play with them, the happier they are. Good luck! -M. Findley Leif Eriksson replies: "Thanks a lot for your advice, it's greatly appreciated. You have pointed out many things I felt was wrong but couldn't put my finger on it, especially helmetwise. The only thing I disagree with is the nose, it kinda depends which kind of nose you have, round, flat, etc how much you can see of the opposite nostril, and i used a picture of a friend of mine as refernce.
Thanks again for stopping by and commeting."
| 11 May 2005 | Kidnero | Loading...In the last picture I looked at, I complained about the face. Here I don't. Just lovely, she looks so alive and I do really like her full lips. They give her her personality. Leif Eriksson replies: "Thanks. I like how the lips turned out." | |

| 11 Jul 2005 | Nelleke Pieters | Loading...hehe.. well, helms should also be fun to wear and look cool ^-^ You know, that was the weak point of the french army... the blue with red armors and big shiny helmets could be seen from everywhere!! Leif Eriksson replies: "lol... That sounds like something typical for the french, fashion before function... =) Thank you for your comment." | |
| 29 Apr 2007 | Louisa Watson | Loading...This is really cute! I love the description, and I also love her eyes - the way they look so bright and eager! The shading in the helmet is good, too - you've managed to capture its dull, metallic texture (since she found it in the storeroom, she probably hasn't had a change to polish it yet, though I suspect she's looking forward to making it gleam!) Leif Eriksson replies: "Thanks, glad you commented on her, I had almost forgot about this old pencil sketch, I do way to much drawing and colouring on the computer these days, maybe it’s time to get back to basis again." | |
