This is my idea of what was happening below the surface when King Arthur was being rowed out to collect Excaliber from the Lady of The Lake. She is just rising from the murky depths and the sword is pushing though to greet the light of day for the first time.

The sword was never his to keep, jusyt loaned him by the Celtic gods and Goddesses. It  had to be returned to the lake on his death has many fans of  the legend already know.

Painted in pastels.

Beautiful use of illumination! Love the transparencies and how her dress seem to be made of aquatic plants!

:-) Steph Steph Salt replies: "Thank you Constanza. *Hugs!*"

Great job, Steph! I particularly love the dynamic composition and the colours. A very original idea for the contest!

:-) Steph Steph Salt replies: "Thank you Greg. Perhaps I will perfect these dynamic poses one day? I still don't like her shoulders LOL!"

What i like most in this piece is the feeling of being underwater. Great job with pastels 2

I think this has just become a new favourite of mine! I love it Steph, and just because its all blues and greens. I think one of the most difficult things about drawing underwater is deciding where the surface finishes and the depths begin - but you've mastered it so well. Love the weeds as her dress. Gorgeous! 2

:-) Steph Steph Salt replies: "Thank you Helen, though as I just replied to Norma, her head and shoulders are really bad, I must see if I can correct it lolIt's good to hear from you again, I am just so sorry that I have not replied sooner but htat is my fault or my damn memory 8"

I love the approach you took to this theme - the entire underwater point of view is refreshingly different. The colour choices are beautiful as well, and the viewer gets that authentic underwater feeling with the flow of the gown, almost as if it were seaweed.

:-) Steph Steph Salt replies: "Thank you Norma, it's the effect which pleases me most but looking at the picture once again I just want to cringe lol the anatomy around her neck and shoulders is terrible 19I really must find it out and see if it's possible to correct it without spoiling anything else.1 "

This is wonderfully done. There probably isn’t much that I can say that others haven’t said already, but it’s beautiful. The whole scene seems to just ripple and wave through the water on the paper. I almost forget that it is on paper. 2

:-) Steph Steph Salt replies: "Thank you Marrisa 2

I’m sorry I’ve been so long replying I couldn’t sign in and I was too idle to ask for my password 8"
