| 21 Mar 2004 | Fabio Dakkar Gruppioni | Loading...Nice picture. This pic give me a strange feel... I don't know exactly how to explain... Steph Steph Salt replies: "Thats the celtic past for you, it does give people strange feelings. Thank you Fabio" | |
| 31 Mar 2004 | Claire Grundey | Loading...Oh! I love this one - its almost abstract! Steph Steph Salt replies: "Almost but not quite hey Claire, I just wish it had been finished in time for a magazines art contest, I spent too long thinking about it Thank you for the lovely comments. " | |
| 2 Apr 2004 | Alex McMillan | Loading...This is a great drawing! The dark(ish) colours really give it an atmosphere. And the colours in the sky are excellent. Are those faces I can see in the stones? Especially the centre stone... In fact, I can see a dancer in the first one, on the left. Was that a take on the fact that a lot of the standing stones were said to be poor fools cursed for dancing on the Sabbath? Steph Steph Salt replies: "Most shapes in the stones where happy coincidences Alex, but have another look at the central standing stone, have you missed something? I've just got the picture out to have a look for this dancing figure and I see what you mean. So lets say it is one of the dancers, perhaps it is for all we know. I just linked several Celtic themes together, to make a whole, it would be nice to think that the legends are talking as well. Eerie!!! " | |
| 2 Apr 2004 | Fiona McMillan | Loading...I love this one, Steph (not that that means I don't like any of the others!!). I'm a big fan of the Arthurian Legends, and the King Under the Hill legend. There are quite a few of them, aren't there? I'm also daft on stone circles and standing stones, and so such a combination makes for a great drawing!! The detail you've put into the stones - I can feel them - and the symbol in the sky is just a lovely touch. Steph Steph Salt replies: "Hi Fiona, I think there is one missing here? This is a bit of my hippy self coming out, I love stone circles mazes and the Arthurian legend as well.Though I think I've read too many versions of the story, you could say I'm all read out the legend. Now when I pick a book up and find it's yet another attempt at the story, I put it back, I bet I'm missing some good stories because of this!" | |
| 15 May 2004 | Noman | Loading...Hey! this is really good! the sky is done beautifully and so are the ginormouse stones...if i may add some critisism though, i think that the scene would be more effective if it had something to draw you into the scene, something from the viewer's perspective, (i think you might have tried to do that with the grass in the corner?)and maybe something in the background like a mountain range or something...idk just ignore this if you dont want my comment...keep making stuff like this! Steph Steph Salt replies: "No I won't ignore it, I love comments like this it makes me look at my pictures from anothers point of view. But honestly this is how I want the picture in this case, it is a world beyond our reach yet there at the same time. So to add anything in the viewers perspective is to loose the remoteness of it. Thank you your always welcome after your lovely critique, don't pull yourself down I'm sorry if some react badly to any you make. " | |
