I was trying for a hazy, impressionistic look with this painting of a youngish Elven girl. There was more to the picture, but I wound up hating the rest of it---backgrounds are not my forte---so I'm just putting up the part of it that I'm somewhat satisfied with. This was a small and very rough pencil sketch that I scanned in, then painted using Painter Classic and my trusty Wacom tablet (how I love that thing!).

That's really beautiful. The shape of the face and neck make me think Italian Renaissance art, but the lighting is more contemporary....i'd like to print this one and hang it next to my computer. 2

It's lovely! I thought it was some kind of pastels until I read it was computer painted, so I think you succeeded with the impressionistic look. One thing though; I think her skin is a bit too pink and monocromatic. There should be more yellow in it, I think and it should me more different colours for different parts of the face. More red on the cheeks and the lips than on the forehead eg. It makes the picture look not quite finished.

I like the effect, i have to look into that programme you used. The hair is beautiful, but one thing i'd change in the face is the nose. I think it protrudes too high, their should be a ridge from her brow. I do't think you should change the colout at all, if you were trying a hazy effect, you got it, adding yellow and reds would chage the lighting and take from the atmosphere.

You have a Wacom tablet too? Argh, I have one and I can't use it. Email me at lizyrd00@yahoo.com if you have any pointers. Please. This is nice, too, btw.

Well done, particularly in the lighting. However, the girl looks rather masculine.
