Another Gemstone portrait, this one of a Sylvan bard named Stormyrain. She's vivacious and a bit of a flirt, so I gave her an expression that was the next best thing to a wink that I could manage. Her hand looks a little less 'sturdy' than I had originally drawn it, at the request of Stormyrain's player; I'm not sure I was completely successful with thinning it out while keeping it functional-looking. That thing behind her is her mandolin, which is slung in a carrying case across her back. This portrait is my most recent and was done in pencil, heavily touched up with Painter and a Wacom tablet.

This is a stunning piece of artwork. Almost a photogenic quality to it.

All those "Gemstone" portraits are so good! They look almost like photos and what's even better; the caracters look genuinely different! Just like real people, with completely different faces and hands and all. All my people look more or less the same...

I love that face...she may be flirtatious, but there is a girlish innocence to her expression that's certain to fell the hearts of everybody!!!

Well, I've not seen her in the game for some time now, but I will forever picture her like this. You have truly mastered facials! And her little smirk is perfect! Nicely done! -Quillian

She's beautiful! The lighting on the hair is particularly great. The shading is wonderful too. You use a smudge stick, right? I love what those things do.

I love my smudge sticks! Some of them are five years old and still holding together; I use those mostly for adding shadow and not for blending, as they have such a thick patina of graphite on them.

If you had made the whole hand thinner, instead of just the fingers, it would look more natural...

I studied the image before I read the description, and I can say that you succeeded in conveying her personality. I like the coy look. 12
