  | Eujeel lucifer, the so-called Avigonian Night Devil, is the largest known limacothere of Avigonia. This monstrous, 200 kg predator is also among the few luminescent limacothere, harboring various symbiotic bacteria within its skin. These symbiotes are transferred from generation to generation through infection within the fertilized egg before the mother lays them. E. lucifer preys on any animal it stalks and overpowers, primarily small tragolagids, and other limacotheres. Individuals communicate with each other through the controlled blinking and glowing of their luminescent organs (by controlling the flow of oxygen to their symbiotes). Those individuals who fail to become infected with their symbiotes rarely survive into adulthood, with those who do inevitably being cannibalized by other adults. |
