On advice from Ruben, I decided to show what my mental cephalopods look like in the dark...

"Jesus Whip. what kind of sumbi!@$ coudl do that?" Benchley's book, Beast. haven't seen the movie, but I bet the books better. they always are. anyways, I can't remember who said that line, but he was commentign on a steel trap laid out by fisherman Whip Darling, which the giant, antagonistic, man-eating, ship sinking squiddie-poo crushed so tightly that it "Looked like it was all melted together in a furnace" God I love that book. unfortunately, the poor squid gets what's coming to her in the end. yes, her. she gets eaten by a sperm whale, after she killed it's calf. buuut, there's a huge squid egg sac thingy floating around at the bottom of the ocean near there, ready to hatch...Ah... Mr. Benchley... I haven't forgiven him for the heinous slander he has added to the reputation of sharks everywhere. Then I saw the TV movie version of the hogwash known as "The Beast." *goes off into the corner to make retching sound*

Bioluminescence! *cracks up, chews fingernails and points at calamari* Ah, ha, ha, ha hahahahha!

oh yes, Stanton. at least the Beast didn't spawn the same kind of oceanic pogroms that Jaws did. I mean, a 100 foot squid focusing it's sole attention on terrorizing a small community? puh-leese. have you noticed the theme in his books? a giant monster terrorizes a community, before being dispatched by a witty scientist and a fisherman. *joins Stanton in retching and vomiting and every other term for puking*

*sings* however so heinous there's no book like Beast...methinks Benchley should be slapped in the face with a fragment of an Architeuthis. or at least by a piece of a Great White corpse.

Like ninja squid.

Nifty. I like the red one on the left side of the picture with the little bat wings.

Neat to see non-vertebrate artwork on Elfwood.
