SciFi and Fantasy Art Sauraeetes aepysaurus by Stanton F. Fink

Sauraeetes aepysaurus is the greatest predator of Northern Avigonia, at least before molting season. With a wingspan of at least 10 feet among adult males, and 6 to 8 feet among females, S. aepysaurus is the largest of a family of flying reptiles known as the Phyllolepidosaurs. The Phyllolepidosaurs are indigenious to the rainforests of Avigonia, and are capable of flight, with a plumage of thin, feather-shaped scales. These scales are usually shed all at once, as the Phyllolepidosaurs are also accomplished climbers, and are often strictly arboreal. Here, we see an adult male pursuing a Phrygiacasuarius struthio through the Avigonian rainforest.
