| 30 Sep 2007 | Douglas Eckhart | Loading...You know... looking at this picture almost makes me want to watch Urusei Yatsura... but I think this painting is much better than the anime, so I'd rather look at it instead. I figure that you already know it looks amazing, and even more so because it's done with traditional materials, not just photoshoped together. Her dress, the scene and Oyuki herself are all great! I kind of agree with what Rachel said back in 2004. Even with the winter sky and the icicles, it's doesn't feel like an overly cold picture. Probably because Oyuki doesn't seem like a cold person in it. The blue makes her look more like she's standing in an ocean rather than an ice or snow field or anything. But, that's Rumiko Takahashi's fault for making Oyuki's colors more blue than white. She should have consulted you first, maybe then I'd have watched more of the anime. If you hadn't mentioned 'cold' in the description, I'd never have even thought to question it. Alan Gutierrez replies: "Thanks for the comment! Traditional work like this is harder and harder to come by. That is, most art I have commissioned is digital. But, I think I can still make it pretty similar these days..." | |
