Tag As FavoriteComment		In a couple other places people have mentioned that they prefer the larger picture to the smaller one, so I'll put both up here.  There's also a detail in this gallery in case you want to see more.

I'm still not entirely sure where I got the idea to turn a P-51 Mustang into an anthropomorph, but I think I was getting bored of so many wolf/tiger/fox anthros.  There's not anything wrong with them, but like anything else repetition breeds tediousness. 

Of course, with that thought I had to prove that something different could be done, and I've never seen a P-51 Mustang given human characteristics, so that's what I did.  I really happen to like old World War II aircraft,  P-51's are awesome, though I prefer P-38 Lightnings and Supermarine Spitfires myself.

Done in Photoshop 6.0. This picture took a long time and much effort (each blade of grass was drawn by hand!), but currently it is one of my favorite pieces of art so it was all worth it.  I tried many of new techniques (some working much better than others) and learned a lot.   I think one of the most important things to remember about art is to never stagnate.  Don't limit yourself to a single medium, no matter how much you like it.  And don't draw only one type of thing.  I can't begin to tell you how many promising artists I've seen have trouble because they will only draw anime/anthros/superheroes/whatever.  Be bold!  Experiment!  Even though it will look bad at first try new things, it will help you tremendously.  I'll be the first to admit that I tend to draw too many monsters at the exclusion of other subjects, but I'm trying to make different things and already I've noticed that I'm getting better.  If there's any advice I can give about art, that would be it.

Beautiful picture. I cheat with the grass and find programs just for it lol. I'm fascinated by your lighting and trees...how'd you get the trees like that?

:-) Sarah Taylor replies: "Thanks! The trees were made with a photoshop brush which I made from a picture of my basement when it flooded. It had some nice textures that look a lot like trees."

hah, you know i actually had a dream like this... i was wandering through a world where Tvs had faces and planes had arms! this is pretty cool and original,well done you should be proud!

What a neat idea! This is awesome! I think it would be cool if you made it look like the grass was rippling in the breeze created by his wings, or something, like when a helicopter hovers close to the ground. This is a terrific piece! You’re a very talented artist!

The imagination that took to do this is incredible. i have never seen anything like, it’s absolutely breathtaking and sooooooooo original.
