The Farmer in the Field

Mr. Clutter was in his field pushing the plow

Which was itself a rather strange sight

Considering that he had been dead three weeks now.

People from the big city bank had come to his widow

Expecting her to sign papers

And figuring they would just “have to” foreclose.

But she told them she would get along just fine

And they needn't bother to worry

She would keep the payments coming—right on time.

They asked how she planned to run the place.

She told them that was her concern

With a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face.

Mr. Clutter, in the field, began planting seeds.

He would return in a couple of weeks

To take care of any weeds.

Haha, that's great!

Have you ever seen O Brother, Where Art Thou? I love this one part where this little kid comes out of his house with a shotgun and says something like, "Pappy says I'm ta shoot whoever's from the bank! I nicked the census man!"

XD Hilarious.

heehee! as far as constructive critisism: the lines don't seem to have the same number of syllables, which makes the beat off. i did like the end, as usual; little twist of irony. interesting that in this one, one of the characters CAN see the ghost... it seems more often in your stories the character can't or doesn't want to ect.... cool!
Peace and flaming Sharpies,

Hehehe. I know a few old farmers that would definitely do this if given the chance. They do love their land. I liked the idea of the widow smirking and turning away the bank men, with a "WE'll be fine."
