Typical frustrated ghost, having a little trouble with a scaring. He's no Casper, though.

The Scaring

Have I told you about my new tenant?

Moved in a short while ago.

Surely no one told him I was around

So I thought I'd just let him know.

He was sitting alone by the fire

On a rather chilly night;

Just sitting there reading a book

When I decided to give him a fright.

But he didn't seem to notice

When I started in with a low moan;

Didn't even look up from his book

So I switched to the agonized groan.

Soon I was rattling chains

To give the fellow a scare

But it didn't bother him a bit!

He just kept sitting there!

Finally I realized the boy was deaf

And couldn't hear a thing.

Not a moan, a groan, or a rattle;

I may as well just sing!

But I decided to try one more thing

Before giving up and giving in.

I appeared in all my ghastly glory--

Oh, yes, I got him then.

*Grins broadly* I love it. A lot of people say poems that rhyme aren't really true poems... but I love them! Very cute.

Absolutely awesome. At first I thought the kid was just engrossed in his book, that sounds like something I'd do. Just sit there and read. I love it. *cupcakes*

Hehehe, I like it. *laughs*

I'm soooo jealous of people like you who can handle poetry so well. I just can't. *pouts and goes off to sulk in the corner*

Oh wow! LOL That's amazing! I think that if you were to gather all of these wonderful ghost tales in your library and submit them as a book you'd be sure to be published. The stories are simply marvelous and this poem is among the best of the ghost tales in the library. Well done.
