I never was a big fan of the first StarGate series. But I love the spin-off "StarGate: Atlantis".

It answers a lot of the questions going back to the original movie that starred Kurt Russel. One of the things I found intriguing is that the Lantians evolved several million years before modern Man and that they left the Earth to settle in the Pegasus Galaxy 10,000 years ago. During their travels the Lantians built the StarGate network that is depicted in the series. But then, according to the story, the Lantians encountered a fierce and dark enemy called the Wraith. These Wraith fed upon humans and viewed humans like the way we view cattle. The Lantians fought the Wraith for 100 years. But even though the Lantian technology was more advanced the Wraith eventually overwhelmed the Lantians with sheer numbers forcing the Lantians to abandon their city of Atlantis and return to Earth where they told their story to the ancient Greeks spawning the myth of Atlantis.

This picture is a depiction of one of their StarGates decaying from age on an abandoned planet in the Pegasus Galaxy.

I do plan to eventually create more "StarGate: Atlantis" fan art including a depiction of a Wraith.

Because of Elfwood's rules in regards to using screenshots for Fan Art I decided to construct this StarGate entirely out of manipulated photos that I took of ordinary objects around my home. Absolutely no screenshots from the TV series were used in the creation of this picture.

excellent use of blue for the wormhole--looks just like it does in the TV shows!

1 Steven P. Love replies: "Thank you. This was my first attempt at StarGate fan art. I actually took a photo of the sun reflecting off of a pond to get the effect similar to the TV version. I had to manipulate it using the GIMP to obtain the vortex appearance. This is but a prototype. I plan to do another, more refined, StarGate later."

Woah. I can’t stare at the center or my eyes cross and I get dizzy. Awesome job!
