Inspired by Heather Schumacher's awesome birds. I wanted to get it up here so I will hopefully somehow get inspired to finish it. I was thinking of inking it, or just finishing the details with my trusty 0.7 Pentel. Suggestions are welcome!

4 March 2001: So I didn't ink it, but I'm still thinking about it. In any case, this version is more finished-looking than the original.

Ooooo....it's looking good to me! =) I really like his/hers/its wings...and the facial expression. I think I may have to try one of these guys myself...if I can ever find time to draw again. Heh heh heh. 12

i love the detail but i think that either its head is too big or its front legs are too small. other then that its great

I would ink just the very major lines, like, the main feather shape, the main beak lines and either leave the inner details pencil or make the main lines thicker and the details very thin ink. I like this. It doesn't look too detailed or polished as a thumbnail, but here it looks great!!!!

Suggestions? I couldn't draw a regular horse, let alone a hippogriff, if it killed me. Nice wings. Really good drawing.

Nice drawing. I've always thought the hindquarters are suppossed to be the horse and the front should have the claws of a lion. Unless of course I've been envisioning a mutant Hippogriff all this time.

Thanks for a wonderful image. I just took this online test:

to find out what kind of mythological creature I would be and it came up "Hippogryph." Not knowing what one looked like I used google to search and found your site. With one glance, I realized that I had already been here before. Great site, wonderful art, interesting comments. Thanks for showing me a hippogryph.

I think that the hippogryph Elfwood drew is weird. I've always seen Hippogryph pictures with an Eagle front half, and horse hindquarters. So on MY scale of 1-10 I would rate it as a 7. Beautiful Head, and Wings though, great job on them.

I think that this picture, has extremely good detail. I think it's perfect. Keep up the great work Elfwood!!!

Hey great job on the head and it's expression! I think it's legs are a bit too small but other than that it's great.
