This would be the cool counterpart to my sun kirin, of course. I discovered while coloring this that there is a much smaller variety of blues in Prismacolors than there is of reds, eep! I need to work on being more dramatic with light, to be sure, but hey, baby steps. It is color, after all.

Prints of this piece are available here.

He is really nice! I love the colors you chose 2 I also use some green-blues and bluish-purples when I am trying to expand a color range in blue 2 I love pose too-- really nice work!--Laura

I wouldn't worry about the lack of range of blues - it's given you very bold, strong colours that don't hide your beautiful line-work. Great job 1

Hey Neatoness! I really like the colors you used. Even with the small selection of blue. (believe me, I know!) You are making me feel like a slacker! I haven't colored anything in....um....a very long time now. Sad. You have now persuaded me to do something new! Cough cough. Yeah. Sure Gill. 12 Let's see what happens...

I am now in love with kirins........

your lovely kirins make me wanna do similar stuff, though in Chinese mythology Kirins have slightly different anatomy...hmmm...

Indeed they do. They are also generally referred to as kilins in Chinese mythology (or qilins, with various apostrophes and hyphens depending on who's talking about them). 1 I admit I favor the equine aspect in all my unicorns but I hope I give it enough of a twist to properly call them kirins. I'm glad to inspire though; I'd like to see your take on them, to be sure!

I actually like the dragon paws added in with your Kirin art....

All the blue and stuff, blue is my favorite color and it is everywhere in this drawing. I think you have used it well in this piece.

Stunning detail and astounding use of colour...I also think that the limited range of blues and grees create a bolder effect. Lovely, overall...however, I DO have one teeny-tiny bit of advice. The torso/midsection (the space between front and hind legs) seems a little too thick, without the prominent ribcage-to-groin differentiation you see so often in horse-like creatures.
