This is a sketch of a futuristic/retro style train. I like those settings, where modern and ancient technolegy coexist. I planned in making a 3D scene out of this one, but I haven't got to that yet - I still have too much other ideas to work out.

I love the shape of the steam train leading the other wagons, it looks like a pressing iron or an anvil. very cool, I have always found that shape in vehicles very attractive

i think there will always be a fondness for nostelgia in the secret heart of the engineering community and a tourest market as well - it is the overscaleness of traditional guideway based systems that leads so often to assumptions of impracticality of the guideway concept in general - at the same time of course that is almost as often the source of the romanticism of their nostelgia - so i can well see some far distant tourist opperator comming up with something like this - to cross the burning sands of a mars like world in some distant solar system in air conditioned comfort - whether opperated by rail enthuists or some trans galactic hotel chain - with galaxy class meal service being a major drawing and crowd pleasing feature ... ~12

Ah yes, nothing like futuristic retro. Just like the new beetle. Cool train! The cow catcher is a nice effect.

One thing I'v alwayse liked about retro-style is the 'heavyness' of it. YOu alwayse get these beutifully over-engineered (almost armorclad) machines that rampage theri way akllong. Unstopable - built to last.

If you do get around to make a 3d of it, make it a monorail-maglev train... more sci-fi that way. Cool pic by the way
