This AD&D character is a young wizzard, who happens to have the burden of carrying a demon around in a pentagram on his back. The demon protects him, but he has only limited control over the demon. The idea of having a demon on your back is not mine, but I borrowed it from a short story by Laren Niven, called 'Not long before the end'. I also recommend 'What good is a glass dagger?', featuring the same sorceror. The picture was done in PhotoPaint 8, mainly using the airbrush tool.

looks like they are both dealing w/ a lot of grief. There is pain as well as anger in both their faces.

this picture shows pain and releif, evil, and good. this picture is a great one but need more work on the whole wizard thing because i have never known a wizard to carry a pentagram on his back and he be naked.

I'm familiar with "What good is a glass dagger?" and I have to say it's an excellent story (mind you, I'm a Niven fan, so I'm prone to thinking that kind of thing.) As far as this piece goes: I like the demon a lot, but I think you may have made a mistake selecting the angle at which the wizard is shown-- if this wizard carries a demon in a pentagram on his back, you may be best off showing the wizard's back and the demon emerging from the pentagram rather than the front. There's also something that needs work about the angle of his face, and I'd encourage you to include a background. Good work with the anatomy of the wizard, and esp. good work on his hands-- looks like you used photo reference. Well done!

I drew the wizzard from the front so you can see his face and that of the demon. And I didn't use any photo reference on any of my pictures in this gallery. The only reference I used for the hands are the one on the end of my arms.

Reminds me of an RPG character I played once. He was a healer with the mind of a demon warlord in his brain. The warlord would gain control over the body at random times throughout the storyline and caused a few problems. But in time they grew to depend on each other and in the final battle the demon sacrificed himself so that the healer would live. Quite tragic really.

Hmm.. I remember Larry Niven using that idea in one of his books, with a warlock. Although the demontrap was empty during that book. "The magic goes away" I think it was.. Anywho. enough about books.. lol. I love the pic. You did a great job on it. Love the expressions.
