SciFi and Fantasy Art 2002 - Earth Spirit by S. ´Silvestris´ Strand

Obviously an older image, made on the night between 2001 and 2002. I spent that New Year's Eve alone. I walked out onto the pure, white snow, and saw the brilliant lights of the fireworks paint the white landscape in rainbow colors, and I felt such a bittersweet surge of quiet emotion in my heart. In that moment I only wished the whole world would feel the harmony I felt.
I wished the grieving would find comfort, the hungry have food, the lonely to know love. I wished so burningly that my heart ached, for understanding, for an end to foolish prejudice and superstition, an end to war, starvation and suffering. I wished for people to let love into their hearts, not only for what is close, but for everything and everyone. If everyone cared for everyone else, would there be suffering?
New Year's Eve is the brink of something pure and new. A chance to start over, make the following year better than the last. Forget shallow resolutions - they're moot, and never last. Instead look into the mirror, look into your eyes and promise yourself that this year you will care a little more, help a little more, share a little more.
Love a little more.

But when I read the text, you touch my heart and you just write the perfect words to explain how this spirit feelings are. It's like you show us the very definition of Hope (or creation => beginning). If only people would not just agreed but understand maybe the world would be peaceful and the people would never know the words: pain, sadness, war... and then hope would not exist because people would not need it! To try is the only hope we have... (I would have write: happy life instead of happy new year but, each year (or each day) is always a new chance to change the world for a better place to live on) The earth spirit is... A masterpiece!!!

1 Jan 2007	Treespirit	Loading... Sooo.... it's the night between 2005 and 2006, and I remembered this picture and came back to it. I find it very touching, just as I did at the time. But I realized that it has a good message for every day, not just for New Years. You rock... Keep at it.

If we all loved one another, there would be no hunger or sadness or loneliness. Everyone would give. Everyone would have. It is fear that keeps us from this ideal; fear that we may give our all only to be left with nothing and no one. Love is what this life is all about. I firmly believe that we are given the talents we have as a means to meet people that we are supposed to meet. It is not about glorifying ourselves, it is about interacting with others. In the end, that is what will matter the most. Such a lovely image. Such a perfect message. Thank you for sharing it with us!
