Egyptian mythology has always fascinated me, and no god so much as the mysterious Seth. Devil and defender, Darkness in the service of Light...

This particular god has visited me in my dreams for many years, and become the closest thing to a religion this atheist artist will ever have. I finally decided to make a decent picture of him - and the result was almost spooky. It just grew out of the background, as if drawing itself through me. Never had such an experience with a picture before... o.O;;

The medium is CG, as usual, although not based on a sketch like most my pictures. All done with my tablet. Comments, please..?

Wonderful!! So few people can get past the negative modern descriptions of Seth. You truly capture his regal godliness. Please continue to explore and paint the darker side of mythology you do justice to those most would ignore.

Isn't set usually a crocodile?

Anonymoous - I think Sebek is the crocodile god form.

This picture is very elegant and majestic. I love his hair, by the way...and that ankh. I’m glad there’s at least some people who draw Set as a regal animal-headed god instead of some scrawny ginger kid. Great job!

I love this image! I am also a creator of images of Set, and I have to say, yeah! You’ve got that delightful dark majestic power captured here!

I have recently been re-introduced to Egyptian religion and am now addicted. This, I have to say, Is AMAZING. I love it. Any chance of any other gods/goddesses?

Yes! Another Netjer or Egyptian god. So, how do you perceive the villain of the tale? Perhaps you got his personality just right! Set/Seth, of course, may not have been an evil god. His pride, jealous against his brother, Osiris, and the birth of his illegitimate son, Anubis are the clear candidates for his wrong-doings. The picture, specially his emphasis as a god of storm, interested me. Good work.

Seth has more than the negative part he has other aspects too! I like him and Anubis both very handsome, if they existed in the real world its may sound insane but i would go for one of them. i have a mini statue of Seth by my computer he’s scaring off bad things in my room along with my spirit guide Thunderbird is it true Seth is the lord of thunder and lightning also?
