S. 'Silvestris' Strand

S. is a strange lady who lives most of her life inside her own head. This little world is what inspires her stories and drawings. Welcome in to join me there...

I'm female, born '79 and live in Sweden. Basics.

My main feature here on Elfwood is my Lothlorien gallery, where you'll find, among things, lots of art for the stories and snippets here.
My main inspiration has always been my own little world, Pangaea. The first handful of characters and their basic storyline first came to me when I was 11 years old. Now, over 12 years later, the concept has grown wild beyond all proportion, and has become quite an important part of my own identity. Yes, all real authors are schizohprene.

These snippets of writing are not as much actual stories as snapshots of scenes - like my drawings, but painted with words. The actual Pangaea story itself isn't written yet, but hopefully these little glimpses of my world are still worth reading.
I really appreciate comments on my writing, as English is not my first language, and my lacking confidence in my language skills is one of my major reasons for not writing the whole story down once and for all.

This is fantastic! I love what you've done with this story! Absolutely amazing! Best of luck with it, you really ought to get it published. In the meantime, post more please!

No...Tolkein was good for his epoch, and is still the best youth entertainment going (personal bias, I guess.) Nevertheless, one can't always write what's in their head, and Tolkein is notorious for an archaic writing style common in the epic (which I rather like.) His action illustrating isn't entirely up-to-date, is all. On the other hand, Miss Silvestris' publication (this is technically a publication) is very modern, carrying notes of sensationalism--post-modern in her use of irony and ironic voice--this is fantasy with a sci-fi twinge, and highly enjoyable for it.

umm silvy? that's a REALLY bad excuse for not writing all of pangea down and i'm really angry at you for depriving the rest of the people in this sad pathetic world of rion and lazuli and crow and kitsune and etc. i can't tell that english isn't your second language, in fact i've found that because english isn't your second language your writing has a different flavor. along with your art work. i am in awe of what you can do. your style is incredibly unique. to create a world like pangea and not write down it's story is a crime against humanity. if you ever get published guess whose going to be the one who buys multiple copies so i can take one everywhere me (and every other person with ANY literary taste). i love all of your work.

Power of Goodbye, was amazing, I actually cried at the end. Very very moving.

You have a genuilly different touch in your writing, it's soft, thin, colouring but extremely powerful. I love it. Please become a writer and bublish something so I can have something as special as this in my Library.

English isn't your first language?! Your writing is some of the best I've read in my life! "The Power of Goodbye" was one of the most powerful stories I'd read before in my entire life. I just can't wait for Pangaea to come out, I'll pick up a copy of it as soon as is possible.

Dear Sylvestris, when will you write again?
4 Feb 2008:-) Michelle C. Osborn
When you publish this book, I will scream like a nutcase. If you do not publish this book, I will scream like a louder nutcase.

Please, write more so that my vocal chords can get a rest.

I’m repeating most of the other commenters here, but I <3-ed the Power of Goodbye. I cried. And I think that because English isn’t your first language, you have an extremely unique style that is way more effective than that of most other authors whose first language is english. Trust me on this - your stories rock with stereo and subwoofers. I mean WOW, this stuff is amazing. Your writings are some of the best I’ve ever read, and I read a lot.

You rock! Keep writing!

all of these little bits stuck together would make a brilliant novel. it sounds like you know the story off by heart in your head, but all you have are these little snippets of the story written down. you should probably have a go at wirting it out all together. please do!! please!!! PLEASE!!!!
