SciFi and Fantasy Art Tove in Valkyrie Form by Susan Mewhiney

Again, Tove Mallory, but this time she's taken the form of a Valkyrie - a norse battle goddess. They're the warriors of Freya and choosers of the slain - they pick out the warriors that died in battle and take them to Valhalla. In her storyline, she's the first of the Valkyries to be re-born. The others had been killed by Odin in a fit of rage and delusion. How tragic! When she takes this form, she grows wings, her hair turns blonde and her tattoos vanish. Lots of other stuff happens, but I don't want to bore you with the details. ^_^

5 Jul 2003	A girl	Loading... where in the heck did you get your mythology...you only got one part right...and that's what everyone knows that they pick which warriors go into Valhalla....geez people.... Susan Mewhiney replies: "It's from an RPG - not going for accuracy here. This character is BASED on the original stories, but not straight out of them. Sorry if I offended. I'm an artist, not a historian."
9 Jul 2003	Anonymous	Loading... A few points for that last individual: First off the artist said that this is a role playing character. She can follow or rewrite whatever mythology she wants for a story, if she wrote said story. That worked for Tolkien after all. Second, please don't make self-assured claims about mythological things, you'll ALLWAYS be wrong. There are at least eight different versions of the Valkerie myth that I can think of off the top of my head. And yes they WERE the warriors of Freya, and did not become Odins untill much later translations. Third, try not to be nasty please. Susan Mewhiney replies: "You just said everything I was thinking ...and then some! It is a made-up world with made-up rules, however BASED on the different versions of the original stories."

(Believe you me, I've run into some scary ones...) i like how you drew her. She's really tall which gives the feeling of her being powerful and kinda looming over people(that's a good thing cuz she's a valkyrie and all) ^_^ I don't think she really needs to be "bulked up". She looks fine and you never want to overdo that sort of thing. what medium did you use on her? You're coloring is spectacular!
24 Aug 2004	Hannah	Loading... Well, it's about time someone drew a Valkyrie in something other than a chainmail bikini. She's really cool, looks like she could kick some serious butt! To me, her expression almost looks like she's taunting someone, daring them to repeat their comment that chicks can't fight... And of course we know how that'll end!
