Edmund's treachery condemns him to death at the hands of the White Witch. In what is arguably the most crucial and beautiful scene in the entire series, Aslan the Lion, the king of Narnia, offers his life to the enemy in exchange.

'But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed...He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.' (Isaiah 53:5, 7)

i love the chronicles of narnia, and i love this! it is simply beautiful; lewis’ idea on how to use Aslan’s sacrifice as a metaphor for Christ’s sacrifice is superb. i actually cried when i read the book! this picture stirs so many emotions!

I cried in the book. I cried in the movie. It really think this the most beautiful and horribly sad moment in the entire book. Sacrifice is a good name for this.
