From The Book of Three, first in Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain. While Dallben snoozes...er, meditates, Taran takes the opportunity to try to sneak a peek inside the Book of Three. He doesn't know the book is protected by magic, and his nosy little mitts are going to be burned when he touches it.

I've been wanting to update this pic for a while.  The original version, as my first mod's choice, has sentimental value, and it's also on a couple of tours that I wouldn't want to mess up, but it also serves as a good example of how my work has grown and improved over the past couple of years, so I don't plan to take it down. This new one is a combo of Painter and Photoshop, and now, to my organization-obsessive mind, takes its proper place at the beginning of my Prydain series. Yay.

I like this one it seems like a summer day, i love his expression and his hands reaching for the book. The Wizard or whatever looks good too. But i have to say the original version looks cool too cause of all the details, so they are both very good ^^

Very nice, more dramatic. But I liked the expression on the original version better 12

Y'know, on the whole I like this one better. I enjoyed the luminous colours of the original, but here Dallben looks MUCH better (his beard is more realistic and his head is better proportioned). Taran also looks older, and (almost) mature enough to go on a quest of his own. Much improved!

I disagree with him looking too old. I have a nephew that is 14 and would appear the same age as the Taran in this pic. I love the look in his eyes and the way he's biting his lip. I believe I have seen similar expressions on the afore mentioned nephew's face. I like the color and perspective in this pic better than the original. It seems more suitable for the setting. WONDERFUL!!

I agree, great lighting. I've never read the book, though I plan to now, so I wouldn't know how the characters should look. I just think that ("Taran" is it?) looks great. Good job!

wow, this is much better that the last one, the hair is great, and both Taran and Dalben look great. I love how Taran’s face has much more expression.

I like this one more then the other one; the use of light and the look in the young boys face especially his eyes, much better.

awesome pic - love the look in his eyes, like cheeky, scared, and curious
