  | I am very proud of this picture. It is the longest I have ever spent on a single piece of work (about five hours) and it's the only picture that has a proper background. The figures are reasonably realistic because I have started to draw stick figures before I add the flesh to make sure the pose and limbs are right and look natural. the night sky is pretty awful but I still like it. Let me set the seen. Two boys, their age barely a month apart, driven by destiny. Cruel malevolent destiny. 'Is this how it will end?' Arik asked sadly, the light of the guiding crystals reflecting off his horns. 'What choice do we have?' kain replied with equal sorrow. 'You're stronger than me. We both know that' Arik stepped closer and stared into his friends eyes, 'If we fight you'll win. And I will die.' 'Maybe you deserve to die' Kain sighed, avoiding the others eyes. 'You have done terrible things.” Arik smiled softly, 'I suppose I have; though they didn't seem that way at the time... Why is the world so complicated? Why has this happened to us?' 'Evil is evil' Kain droned with a stoney voice, reciting the lesson the druids had taught him so many times over the past year. 'Is it? Sometimes I wonder… I never waned to hurt anybody; but so much has gone wrong. The tower calls both of us. Why us? Destiny? Good and Evil? What sort of world do we live in where the forces of good demand that you kill your friend, why should I be the servant of a force that demands the same?.' 'You're a demon.' 'But do I seem any different to you?' 'No' kain barely whispered, 'but you were always a demon... Demons are evil., you deceived me' 'Yes, I'm a demon. That never mattered to you before, I never hid what I was from you. What have those druids done to you? I'm a demon and you're a Skyblazer, the last of the light fires... What does it matter?' 'It's my duty.' 'Then do your duty' Arik sighed, 'Purge the land of evil. I suppose it's your destiny right?' He stared at the night sky and smiled. I don't care any more. What am I really living for?.' Kain rose into the air. Blue fire slowly rising from his body. Arik fell back on the rocky floor, trying to cover his eyes from his friends brilliance. His unused sword shattered beneath Kains power. 'Do your duty Skyblazer.' he sighed. 'I never dreamed this would be out destiny.' 'I don't know what to do.' Kain sobbed, 'this is my purpose!' 'We make our own purposes. Whatever happens, this is where our destinies end. Shattered or furfilled. It's your choice.' |
