SciFi and Fantasy Art Princess Jessamyn by Sarah Lee Williamson

Just to show you that I don't always draw princess in puffy ballgowns, I drew this picture of an adventuring warrior princess. Her name is Jessamyn, and I wrote a story about her and her family. She is shown here going on a journey wearing a chainmail shirt, pants, boots and carrying a spear and sword. That is her family castle in the background. I thought about making her a giant in the story, except her race of giants it quite different from the typical fairytale giants. The tallest member of her kingdom was 12 feet tall, Jessamyn is a midget at only 8 1/2 feet, but she's quite tough. Her mother maybe a normal sized human. She's very beautiful, with long pale blond hair, sea green eyes and smooth skin. i think her head may be too small and her feet to big, perhaps I should redo the picture, but I like the shading.

14 Jul 2003	Chibi Emily chibi_emily@yah...com	Loading... well, yes, the head might be ever so slightly too small, but I think it looks good that way! And the problem with the feet, is edgephobia. That's what I call it anyhow. I've noticed a lot of the time what when epople get close to the edge fo the paper they tend to fudge details in order to get everything to fit on. I'll bet what happened was you just made the feet too small because you didn't want to see them go off the edge. happens all the time : ) but other than that...wow. Shading. @_@ sucks at shading and i think it loocks really good in black and white! Sarah Lee Williamson replies: "Edgephobia is a common problem of mine. My mom tells me to put a border around the paper with a ruler. I like to draw big. I think using a border is a good idea. I should try that from now on. My unicorn picture also suffers from edgephobia. "
28 Sep 2003	Jessica L. Blackstock	Loading... Aaaah, here you put in some shadows. See what they do to help '3-D'ize the picture? ^_^ I love her face and that chainmail must've taken forever... Sarah Lee Williamson replies: "I've tried shading before. Look at some of my other pictures, like Perseus and Andromeda, and Fairy in chains. Some of the others have a bit of shading on them. I know it's something I need to work on. "

Sarah Lee Williamson replies: "I like Jessamyn she is a strong put sensistive warrior princess. I would work on her story, but I am already involved in so many stories I must finish them before I start a new one. "

I also think the way you did the armor is neat. Sarah Lee Williamson replies: "TY, you just have to keep trying and be patient. if you really like drawing, don't give up on it. I like drawing girls in armor and coming up with cool armor designs. "

You have done very well with the shading and lighting here and the detail work is very nice! Excellent job! Oh well perhaps it’s back to the drawing board... "
