Frances Gibbs

Frances is a random kinda girl who loves to draw and create just about anything! Her art - which focusses mostly on high-fantasy creatures and people - is mostly graphite and ink, but is moving rapidly (and with much success) into the world of computer graphics.

Welcome to the Wolf's den; my gallery!

A little about me:
I am 19 years of age, and live with my wonderful husband(and Elfwood Artist), Thomas Gibbs in Mesa, Arizona. Before moving here in June of '04, I lived most of my life in Perth, Australia. I would like to thank Elfwood for helping my husband and I to meet over three years ago - a meeting which quickly led to love, engagement, and finally marriage on October 18, 2003.

Interests:
Roleplaying, Animals (especially Wolves), Horse Riding, Art, Writing Music, Listening to Music, Reading, and more... Following is a few of those interests in more detail.

ART
Unfortunately, artistic inspiration of late has waxed and waned so sparodically and seemingly random that my artistic moments usually don't last long enough for me to actually finish the projects I begin during those times. Its effects are evident in the fact that there is very little new material on this page at the moment... Right now I am entering into another particularly artisticly creative phase, so I will see if I can allow it to last long enough to finally finish some of the things I've been meaning to for a while, now! :)  So for those who have been here before and happen to return, don't give up hope on me yet! :)

My art used to be mostly graphite or ink, but I have been moving more into computer generated and manipulated art. Regular visitors might notice that the content of this gallery is undergoing transformation into this area. My participation in a graphic design college briefly encouraged me to delve a little into watercolour, goauche, and other random forms of mixed media.
My inspiration can be found from a hugely varied source... I suppose I could be general about it and call it "life"... : ) Recently, more specifically, I have found inspiration for some of the creatures I have been drawing in a few books of animals I have. Also, lately, a book by the creator of NeonDragonArt.com on the drawing of dragons has been of some interest to me. I hope to widen my view on art, give up my idea of achieving instand perfection and let my art flow easier (and where it will). In order to complete anything that I have set a major standard and expectation of perfection for require from me a HUGE amount of patience and long-term inspiration, resources which - lately - have hardly been reliable..
For the most part my art remains largely animals or fantasy-based, but it varies.. Visit my website to see some of my art in a larger variety of genres. My apologies to all; I haven't actually finished a piece of artwork in quite some time, but I have a lot of pieces in the works and hopefully will be completed one day.. and soon!!!!!

Reccommended Artists:
Thomas J Gibbs - My soulmate, and a talented artist!
Right now I'm busy as heck but when I have some more time, I'll update my Reccomended Artists list and add a few more.. comment if you'd like to be added, and I'll see if you're worthy! lol.

MUSIC
I'm pretty open minded about things, including music; I enjoy a wide range including black metal, death metal, power metal, some other random types of metal bands I don't know how to classify, celtic, classical, occasionally a bit of new age, and some other types that elude me at the moment...
Some of my favorite bands and musical artists include Emperor, Arcturus, Enslaved, Dragonlore, Wintersun, Diabolical Masquerade, Dimmu Borgir, Sonata Arctica, Kotipelto, Stratovarius, Nevermore, Dissection, Atrocity, Leave's Eyes, Battlelore, Dargaard, Summoning, Lacuna Coil, Fear Factory, Dan Swano, Winds, the Kovenant, Mushroomhead, Therion, Faith no More, Mork Gryning, Naglfar, and of course, Kingdom of Dis. As we have about 350 cds in our collection, the list goes on! :P
Tom and I are currently working on music for our (currently-) duo band Shadowsong.  We are trying for a sound that could be described as a mixture of Arcturus, Summoning and old Amorphis elements with both clean female vocals and growling/black-metal style male vocals. I'm pretty excited about that.. :)

LITERATURE
I love to read and write - particularly fantasy. My indisputed favourite authors are Tad Williams (especially Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series), and Paulo Coelho (everything). If you'd like, visit my Wyverns Library to read a selection of my Fantasy Literature.
